Ondansetron Oral Solution – This medicine is used either by itself or in combination with other medicines to prevent nausea and vomiting brought on by radiation therapy and cancer drug treatment. Additionally, it is employed to both prevent and treat post-operative nausea and vomiting. Ondansetron Oral Solution works by inhibiting the body’s natural vomiting-inducing chemical.

Ondansetron is an antiemetic drug. It works by blocking chemical messengers in the brain from triggering nausea and vomiting during anti-cancer treatment or right after surgery.

How to use ondansetron oral Solution

  • This medicine dissolves on the tongue. Like other tablet forms, it is not meant to be chewed or consumed.
  • Before using this medicine, dry your hands.
  • The packaging of this medicine may be a bottle or a blister pack.
  • Peel back the foil on the blister pack if you are using it to take the tablet out.
  • The pellet should not be forced through the foil.
  • You should use saliva to consume it after it has completely dissolved.
  • There is no need to take this product with water. If you do this, you may get more headaches.

Take this medicine 30 minutes before your chemotherapy treatment to reduce nausea. Take this medicine one to two hours before the start of your radiation therapy to reduce nausea. Ondansetron one hour before surgery to reduce post-operative nausea. You can take this medicine with or without food.

What are some side effects of ondansetron oral Solution?

Although this can be uncommon, some people who use the drugs can experience very serious, even fatal, side effects. If you experience any of the following signs or symptoms, consult your doctor or seek immediate medical attention as they may point to a very serious side effect:

Fever, wheezing, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing or speaking, unusual hoarseness, or mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat are all signs of an allergic reaction.

  • Stomach pain.
  • Trouble passing urine.
  • Dizziness.
